I and Thou es un proyecto todavía » in progress» primera publicación en color de Mi-Yeon, artista coreana, afincada en Tokyo, Japón. Hizo esta edición en colaboración con el Reminders Photography Stronghold de Yumi Goto. Ya hay una entrada en el blog sobre el anterior libro de Mi-Yeon ( https://gabrielacendoya.wordpress.com//?s=Mi-Yeon&search=Ir ).

El origen del libro viene de la obra de Martin Buber,del mismo titulo, y también de la filosofía Taoísta o Budista. La relación del individuo con el otro y el mundo, la identidad, son los temas desarrollados por Mi-Yeon aquí, temas que de manera bien distinta había abordado en el anterior Alone together, en 2014.

I and Thou esta hecho de tres cuadernos de tamaño distinto, de pequeño a mayor, de aparecer un único individuo a aparecer dos, y tres y mas. Con preciosos tonos de colores, casi lavados, las fotografías, analógicas y re-fotografiadas e intervenidas digitalmente, son a menudo diáfanas, en las que la persona, o sujeto, casi desaparece, disuelta en el aire, haciendo uno con su entorno, otras veces con contornos muy marcados y contrastados.

El libro se abre con una ventana desde lo mas lejano del universo, para acercarse al individuo. Una dimensión mística y filosófica de la vida, en la linea de la obra de Buber.

El individuo es uno cuando se relaciona con los demás, y con la naturaleza. El «Yo» de Mi-Yeon es universal, y no identificable. Hombre o mujer, de cualquier raza o lugar del mundo.

El color tiene un papel importante. Añade una dimensión poética y simbólica fuerte a las imágenes. El universo representado, como el individuo, es mas una abstracción, o una sensación, fuera del tiempo o el espacio reconocido.

Mi-Yeon cuenta como, de pequeña, pensaba que el universo giraba alrededor de su persona » the only I in the world». Y como, conociendo a otros Yo, la duda sobre su significado se instaló en su espíritu.
